Organic Skin Care is Important

The skin is the largest organ of the body.  Skin has many functions: it protects the body and interacts with the environment; it protects against pathogens; it plays an important role in regulating body temperature; and synthesizes vitamin D.  Skin health and appearance reflects what’s going on inside the body.  Organic skin care is not only healthier for you skin, but for your pocket book as well.  Most of what is needed to maintain healthy skin can be found at home or in the grocery store.

The first big necessity for healthy skin is proper diet and routine.  A diet of fresh organic foods with as little processing as possible goes a long way.  Fruits, vegetables, fish, free-ranged chicken and grass fed beef, are all important components of a skin care regimen.

These foods provide nutrients to the skin, its supporting tissues, and the blood vessels that serve the skin.  Water intake is equally important; it hydrates the skin and helps to carry toxins out of the body.  Daily exercise offers several benefits.  Most commonly known, exercise burns fat.  It also builds and tones muscles that support the skin and keep it from sagging.  Finally exercise, causes perspiration and allows the skin to release toxins that it has stored up.  Relaxation and proper amounts of sleep are as activities that will help promote beauty and health in the skin.

There are several natural, organic skin care products on the market.  Many brands claim to contain only natural ingredients, so it is important to check the label.  Products containing synthesized or man-made are not organic.  Most whole food store carry a variety of authentic organic brands.

The skin care industry is still very new.  Skin care products have only been developed with in the last 200 years.  Up to that point skin care products were made at home, with simple, natural ingredients.  Many of the recipes were very simple, and still work better that some commercial products.  For a great exfoliate and anti-oxidizer, honey and sugar can be mixed into a paste.  This mixture can be rubbed on rough areas of the body and then rinsed off.  Softness in the skin will be notices immediately.

Sea mud base can be purchased at most whole food stores.  It usually contains kelp, green clay and other skin boosting items.  Two tablespoons of this mixed with a few drops on an essential oil makes an excellent body mask.  Aloe vera and tea tree oil are other possible beneficial ingredients to add.  Simply stand in the bathtub and apply the paste starting at the feet and working upwards.  Soak in a warn bath for 10-20 minutes and rinse what is left off with the shower.
Choosing organ hair care products has several benefits.  These products can be made a home, cheaply.  They have no harsh chemicals to damage the skin or result in side effects.  Natural hair care products are made without chemicals that harm the environment, nor are they tested on animals.  There is no reason to use harsh and damaging chemicals, wh
en the natural alternatives are as convenient and affordable.
